Sometimes an unexpected car ride turns into a much-needed conversation of laughter during a stressful workday!
Sometimes a trip to your hairstylist turns into some much-needed conversation. Maybe even a new outlook or approach to a decision or idea!
Tommy has so many talents that are unknown even in his disability I am reminded that whether “normal or special” everyone has strengths!
He can make the exact distinct sounds of different animal characters from Disney movies. Such as Sabor the leopard from Tarzan and Shercon the tiger from Jungle Book. It is kind of scary how alike he sounds to them!
He loves music, dancing, toy animals, drums, lights, his snacks and girls of course!! Are one of those things his strength?
I find myself in thoughts about my children all the time as I am sure every other mother does. When they are young it is how do I help them grow and understand…and now that they are adults, it is did I teach them enough to sustain them in their growth and understanding…
The only thing I know is that they are who they are because of my faith in God and what He did!
Kahlyn’s adult life looks much different than Tommy’s. God in her life and family is very visible! Her strength and abilities and growth amaze me. I just want to do and be enough for Tommy… He will be 20 in just a few days, why have I not found his niche? I have protected him from much of the world but at the same time I am exposing him to the world too! Why hasn’t something evolved yet?
This year I plan to work toward that prayerfully! Thinking of some area’s that could be developed. Such as drum lessons, but where and who? I also thought about setting up “overhead visuals” in the drum room… maybe learning by watching someone would be beneficial. He has the rhythm! He is so much more than the iPad that keeps him occupied! We will still be incorporating more “learning experiences” into our daily life and travels. He is able, capable and so very intelligent and we could not be more thankful!
