The Wonders of the Third Floor!
Our Freedom Adventure took us to Jamaica Beach in Galveston, Texas for a Family Beach Wedding!
We no more than get out of the driveway and our “back seat driver” tried to take over! This guy is the Navigation Nazi! LOL
We enter the destination and begin to choose which route we would like to travel, and Tommy sees the “GO” button appear. It seems that this is a “trigger” for Tommy and if this button is not pushed immediately, it is THE END OF THE WORLD! lol
He began to holler; from “his” driver’s seat, “GO, GO.” He even tried to lean forward and push it himself before we actually picked our route.
We made our reservations long ago in preparing for this weekend! We chose the Galveston KOA Holiday. This RV Park was exceptional. I highly recommend to anyone traveling to this end of the island. This KOA not only has RV spots but also cabins or tiny homes available for rent! The Jamaica Beach area is really nice. It is quiet and the water and sand is cleaner than the seawall beaches!
The plan was for the wedding to take place on a private beach and the wedding reception to be held in a large home adjacent to the beach. We were invited over for a tour and to get the “lay of the land” Friday afternoon. They had rehearsal and dinner plans so we left so they could get themselves ready! Back at the KOA we enjoyed the constant breeze and sunshine until that evening when we met up with other relatives and enjoyed a delicious dinner. The restaurant was called Waterman’s and came by a recommendation. It was located on the bay side still on Jamaica Beach. We felt a little underdressed, but no one paid that any attention! LOL Everything we tried from appetizers to our main course was great. I choose coconut shrimp, and I can honestly say it is the best I have ever eaten!
Wedding decorating and set up would begin at 11:00 on Saturday. It was a fun but busy day! As we ventured down to the beach area to make ceremony decisions, I left Tommy at the house. He had his seat all squared away with his iPad at the table just off the kitchen. This home had three floors above the ground level where the reception would take place. Tommy had not ventured much, and I always tell him to “stay right here"!” Now, he knows that I expect him to stay where I ask and most of the time he really does. But when there are girls in the house… This changes things!!
The bride knew he was there and several of her bridesmaids knew Tommy and they were beginning to get ready.
When we drove to the beach, I expressed my concern that I hope Tommy was ok, since we just left him there, but we felt certain that the girls would have called if there were any issues!
Upon returning, I found that Tommy had made his way up the levels. Checking out the house and what the girls were up to!!! Although they had their own things they needed to do, they never failed to stop and visit with him when he would sneak up! He learned a few new dance moves and provided entertainment for them!
We left and got ourselves dressed and returned. I once again reminded Tommy that he needed to stay at the table and “do not go upstairs!” The girls were busy, and he would see them later on the beach! As I continued to help tidy up and help with the finishing touches, I went back in to check on him before the wedding. And was he at the table??? No, he was not… I made my way up the stairs one more time to find him with the girls. I placed my hands on my hips and looked at him sternly… “Tommy, didn’t we talk about you not coming up these stairs and to leave the girls alone?” He turned his head, cut his eyes at me and grinned and stated, “uh huh!” (Like, we sure did mom, but you see where I am right!) LOL The girls and I could do nothing but laugh:) This boy is something else!
Wedding Time!
The wedding guests had the option to be shuttled via a golf cart to the beach and Tommy gladly loaded up! We made our way through the beautiful sand and found our seats beside the string quartet that was playing for the wedding.
Even though we were by the ocean, it was still the kangaroo and the cheetah that made the trip with Tommy. He enjoyed the music, but did not understand why they stopped so much. He thought that he could assist keeping them on track and started directing! lol Don’t worry, it was all “pre-wedding” so he was not taking any attention away from the event!
The wedding was so beautiful! The wind blowing the beautiful gowns was picture-perfect! We ended the night with some dancing (of course)! We are glad that we were able to attend and be a part of this special wedding day! Blessings to the bride and groom!
***A special thank you to the bride and her bridesmaids for taking the time to include Tommy and “making his night!” I very much appreciate your kindness! ***
Summer has arrived and it just does not seem possible that nearly half the year is already gone! Enjoy your family and I pray you have the opportunity for some exciting adventures in the upcoming months!
Until next time, God Bless -
